Welcome to Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital, or CTVSEH. Established in October 1995 by Drs. Stephanie Beardsley, Stephen Kerpsack, and Sharon Theisen, CTVSEH began as a dream to provide specialized veterinary care for pets and pet parents in Central Texas. After completing their specialty residencies at The Ohio State University, the founders returned to Austin, Texas, to realize their vision.

Starting in a modest 3,000-square-foot building in South Austin, the team, comprising more doctors than support staff, worked tirelessly to care for their patients. Their dedication and the growing demand for specialized animal care fueled the hospital's growth.

In October 2000, CTVSEH expanded to a new 12,000 square foot facility, equipped with six departments, five surgery suites, seven exam rooms, a full-service rehabilitation center, and a state-of-the-art CT scanner. This allowed them to provide advanced medical procedures and comprehensive care.

By June 2010, CTVSEH opened a second location in Round Rock, a 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, enhancing their capability with six departments, four surgery suites, nine exam rooms, a full-service rehabilitation center, and advanced MRI and CT scanners. This expansion enabled high-level procedures such as endoscopy, ultrasound, laparoscopy, and orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, addressing complex cases referred by primary care veterinarians.

In 2017, CTVSEH further solidified its commitment to exceptional care by merging with the Emergency Animal Hospital of Northwest Austin, led by Dr. Scott Johnson. This merger enhanced their emergency and critical care services, providing 24-hour emergency care alongside daytime specialty services in Round Rock and South Austin.

Today, CTVSEH continues to grow, providing Central Texas pets and their families with powerful medicine and exceptional care. The vision of Drs. Beardsley, Kerpsack, and Theisen lives on, ensuring that every pet receives the high-quality care they deserve.
