Bio:
I was born and raised just outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico. My family and I later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where we lived for several years before eventually settling in Florida, where I attended college. While completing my undergraduate degree in biology, I had the opportunity to work alongside marine biologists conducting field research focused on sharks, rays, and manatees. This experience sparked my passion for conservation and deepened my interest in caring for animals. During veterinary school, I discovered my passion for surgery. I was fascinated by the combination of advanced medical knowledge, technical skill, and problem-solving that surgery requires, but what resonated with me most was the immediate and lasting impact it can have on the lives of pets and their families. As I continued my training through internship, residency, and fellowship, I developed a particular passion for surgical oncology. Caring for patients with cancer has allowed me to combine my love of surgery with my desire to help pets and their families navigate some of the most challenging moments in their lives. I am especially passionate about using advanced surgical techniques and a thoughtful, individualized approach to give each patient the best possible outcome while helping families understand their options and feel supported throughout the process. I feel incredibly fortunate to have a career that allows me to combine my passion for surgery and surgical oncology with my love for animals. Being able to help a pet live a longer, healthier life and make a meaningful difference for their family is incredibly rewarding. Outside of work, I enjoy paddleboarding, freediving, painting, and dancing.
